Use One Armed Swings For Golf Swing Improvement
In order to get a better sense of your swing and the ball, try taking practice shots with one hand. This is a great practice technique.
Here is how it’s done:
1. When you go to the practice range, stand over the ball with your normal stance. Start out by using a wedge or 9-iron.
2. Remove your dominant hand from the club and keep it at your side. Keep in mind, this drill is only going to use one arm.
3. Begin taking chip shots with your one-arm practice swing. When you hit these small, short chip shots, you’ll begin to get a better feel for getting the club head to the ball. You can also see how the ball moves as it comes off of the club face.
4. Continue the drill, and when you’re comfortable with the one-armed chip shots, begin working up to taking 3/4-swing pitch shots. Remember to use your non-dominant hand and continue the drill with the wedge or 9-iron.
By using this technique, you’ll find that your confidence with the one-arm swing will improve. The pay-off comes when you make your normal swings, they’ll feel stronger and you should see the length of your shots increase.

This is a great strength training exercise too! When you do this the first couple of times, many golfers have difficulty doing it. As they get stronger they can actually hit full shots that go 60% or their normal distance.
