Rules For Golf Clubs

The official golf rules state that a player is allowed to carry no more than 14 clubs in their golf bag.

You can bet that the beginner golfer is not too worried about having all those clubs to carry around. However, the more experienced golfers know exactly which clubs they will use and the type of shot they’ll make with them.

If you’re just starting out playing golf, you may want to think about only carrying 4 or 5 golf clubs in your bag. You don’t have to have all 14 clubs with you just because the rules say that’s how many clubs you can have. Remember, the rules state that it is a MAXIMUM of 14 clubs.

So what clubs make up the typical 14 club set? While there is a lot variability in what clubs you’ll find in any person’s bag, a typical amateur golfer will most likely have the following clubs in their golf bag–1 driver, 8 irons, 2 fairway woods, 2 wedges and 1 putter.

Any variations on these? Let me know your recommendations for the club choice of the typical amateur golfer.
