Tips On How To Practice Putting
Putting a ball sounds easy. But to become a good, if not great, putter you have to spend as much time as you can practicing various putt shots. You have to practice putts with various lengths and with different breaks.
Spend some time on the green taking long putt shots, short ones. Hit putts that break from right to left and from left to right. Practice holing out straight putts. Hit uphill putts and downhill putts.
There is a tremendous variety of practice putt shots you can take. If you take the time to practice any and every type of putt shot you can think of, you’ll become more confident and more comfortable with anything the green can throw at you.
To get the most out of your putting practice sessions, ask yourself the following questions after each shot–
1. Did I hit the ball too hard or too soft?
2. Did I misread the break?
3. Am I comfortable enough with the length of putt I had?
4. When the ball hit the hole, how did it to react? Did it roll right over? Did it sink but then bounce out?
5. Did I use an uneven stroke which caused me to pull or push the putt?
By analyzing each practice putt, you’ll start to make the necessary corrections to handle the conditions of that putt. You’ll soon find your putting skills improving dramatically.
