Golf Club Shopping

Thinking about the equipment you need to buy to play golf? Keep in mind two very important words–

Comfort and Fit

Don’t lose site of those words!

If you watch the pro players on TV, you’ll see that they all use certain brands of clubs. They will typically have the logos of that company prominently displayed somewhere on their clothing. Don’t for one minute think that the brand of clubs your favorite player is using is the best brand of clubs for you. Those players are being paid huge amounts of money to use those clubs. You are not.

If you’ve already purchased those clubs and are having a hard time hitting the ball well, you either need to improve your golf swing or find a club that is more suited to your current swing.

When choosing the right clubs for yourself, the appearance and style of the clubs are not the important factor here. Ask yourself how does the club feel when you grip it. Are the clubs comfortable in your hand? Swing the clubs and ask yourself how it feels. Does it feel “right”? If your answer is “No” to these questions, try other clubs until you can answer “Yes”. Get some help from the pro at your local course or from nearest golf shop to help you decide.

When you’re choosing your clubs, eye-candy and sex appeal are not the factors to consider–you’re not buying a sports car here. It doesn’t matter how “good” the clubs look. If they feel right when you grip them and swing them, then you’ve found the clubs to buy. Remember that function comes first and aesthetics should be a distant second.
