Golf Club Buying Tips For New Golfers
It’s not an exaggeration to say that there are literally hundreds of companies that make an incredibly huge number of golf clubs and golf accessories. If you’re a first-time golf club buyer, deciding on which clubs to buy can be an overwhelming decision.
The golf equipment makers turn out new products faster than cell-phone makers, new trends in clothes and mp3 players. They always seem to be introducing the newest and greatest golf products that people rush to buy.
When it comes right down to it, the equipment that’s used, especially for beginning golfers, has very little to do with how well you’re able to play the game. It really has to do with the skills that you develop. As you progress and become a better golfer, you may find that equipment can start to play a role in improving your game. But in the beginning stages, the type of clubs you use will make very little difference. Now that I’ve said that, here are a couple of tips for buying golf clubs, especially if they’re your first set of clubs–
1. Plan on spending about $300 for a decent new set of beginners golf clubs. This set should include at least two woods, five irons and a putter. Generally, the bag is an extra cost but if you look around, you can find a “starter set” of clubs that includes the golf bag.
2. If this is your first set of clubs, you should seriously consider buying a used set. While most people who start playing golf grow to love the game, there is always the possibility that you just may not like it. Why spend a huge amount of money on a new set of clubs unless you’re absolutely sure that you’ll like the game and have the time to play it? You can find used clubs in your newspaper classified section, on online auction sites and, sometimes at the pro shop at your local golf course. Also check with your “golf buddies” who may have upgraded and have an extra set of clubs sitting around. Any of these should give you the opportunity to find a decent and inexpensive set of clubs and get you out on the course.
