Divot Etiquette On The Golf Course
Do you want to earn the respect of your fellow players on the golf course, as well as have the favor returned back to you?
How about being courteous enough to fix all of your divots on EVERY hole. Also, take care of those ball marks.
When making an iron shot, sending a small piece of turf flying through the is unavoidable. If you don’t fix you divot, the bare spot you leave could leave players following you with an undesirable lie.
There are probably not too many things more frustrating than making that perfect shot (for some of us they come so few and far between) and then having the ball end up inside of a torn divot.
The solution is easy–simply place the divot back into the spot you hacked it out of and step on it with your foot. Within a few days the grass will re-root and you’ll leave a lot of happy golfers behind you.
