Golf Swing Flexibility Exercises Equal Longer Drives

Your golf swing requires maximum flexibility. You can’t get it hacking more balls. You can’t get it taking more lessons. You only get it by doing golf flexibility exercises specific to your swing.

There is a huge difference between general stretching and stretching that benefits your golf swing. Just take a look at the very dynamic positions your body is in throughout the swing and you’ll quickly see why you need unique stretches.

Golf is a highly movement oriented sport. Once the swing stops, every major muscle fires befores it’s done. That’s called sequence of motion. If you can apply flexibility exercises that capture these positions and in some semblence of order, you’re on your way to a much better golf swing.

The best type of stretching then is dynamic (movement) type stretches. Holding (static) stretches are okay too if they are in mechanically similar positions to your golf swing.

Anytime you can separate your upper body from your lower body, you will see a dramatic improvement in your clubhead speed, power and distance.

Take a look at the picture below. I’m seated to take all lower body movement out of this stretch. I’m holding a light weight medicine ball, but you can hold a single dumbbell or even nothing.
